Migrant Worker Claims

In line with the decision handed down from the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council (JCPC), the Cook Islands National Superannuation Fund (CINSF) outline the following process, to identify and authenticate personal information and bank account details, in order to approve payments to former members that have migrated from the Cook Islands, received the balance of their Employee Account and any investment earnings, and had their Employer Account forfeited.

Step 1:

Complete the Forfeited Funds Claim Form

Step 2:

Provide a *certified copy of your original passport.

*Certified by a registered Justice of the Peace, Solicitor, or Court Official in your country of residence

Step 3:

Provide a *certified utility bill or account that verifies your current residential, state, and country address.

Step 4:

Provide a *certified bank statement to confirm your details of the account the funds are to be paid to.

Step 5:

Upon verification of all of the above details the processing of your payment can commence.

The estimated timeline from receipt of all completed documentation by the CINSF Office to the calculation and application of interest and final payment to your account is approximately 8 – 10 weeks and dependent on the volume of claims being processed at any one time.

An Interest Rate of 5.00% pa is applied from the date of withdrawal to the date of the claim period (the date of the JCPC decision 17 November 2016).

The CINSF retains the right to withhold payment if any such information submitted for a claim is not provided, verified, or is found to be fraudulent. In this event further requirements will be made by the CINSF before the claim is reconsidered.

Special Note: If you are a family member or legal representative of a deceased former member and you believe a payment may be due, please contact the CINSF office directly.
